Terms of Use
⚠️ Subscriptions auto-renew. Your subscription will automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions at any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading or using MathScan ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and the operator of MathScan (see App Store listing for details). Contact: support@mathscan.app
2. Description of the service
MathScan is an educational tool that uses artificial intelligence (OpenAI) to provide step-by-step solutions and explanations for mathematical problems. Users may submit questions via text or photographs of written/printed problems.
Important: MathScan is a learning aid. Always verify solutions independently. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated answers.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 4 years of age to use the App. Users under 13 must have parental consent. By using the App, you confirm you meet these requirements or have appropriate parental/guardian consent.
4. In-App Purchases & subscriptions
4.1 Credit packs (one-time purchase)
You may purchase credits (Starter pack) via Apple In-App Purchase. Credits are consumed when you submit math problems. Credits are non-transferable and have no monetary value outside the App.
4.2 Subscriptions
MathScan offers auto-renewable subscription plans (Basic, Standard, Pro Year). By subscribing:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions at any time in App Store → Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access until then.
- Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when a paid subscription is purchased.
4.3 Pricing
Prices are displayed in the App in your local currency. Prices may change; you will be notified in advance of any subscription price change.
4.4 Refunds
All purchase decisions are final. Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple under their refund policy. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
5. Restore Purchases
If you reinstall the App or switch devices, use the "Restore Purchases" button in the App to restore previously purchased credits and active subscriptions linked to your Apple ID.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the App's source code.
- Use automated means (bots, scripts) to access the App or API.
- Submit content that is offensive, harmful, or violates third-party rights.
- Attempt to manipulate your credit balance or circumvent payment systems.
7. AI-generated content disclaimer
MathScan uses OpenAI's language models to generate responses. AI-generated solutions may contain errors or inaccuracies. MathScan is provided as a learning aid only and does not constitute professional academic advice. We are not responsible for any decisions made based on AI-generated content.
8. Intellectual property
All trademarks, logos, and content associated with MathScan are owned by the operator. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without explicit written permission.
You retain ownership of any content you submit. By submitting content, you grant MathScan a limited, non-exclusive licence to process it solely for the purpose of providing the service.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR ACCURATE.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MATHSCAN AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland / the European Union. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Poland, unless overridden by mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.
13. Changes to terms
We may update these Terms. The updated version will be posted at mathscan.app/terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
